Hello Everyone,

On this snow filled Easter Sunday, I have the great honor to share with you all and show our appreciation to both Metro Grocers ownership and the Valley community we are proud to call home.

Please allow me to explain,

Yesterday, for the first time in any known history, an equestrian riding team was permitted to bag groceries as a fundraiser (typically something reserved for hockey teams). Following the hockey teams lead, we outfitted all the riders in long sleeve tee's as jerseys and ensured every cash register was operated by one of our riders. We put up the permitted signage indicating who will be providing the bagging services. As a bonus, we handed out raffle tickets to all those that donated for a draw to win an outdoor BBQ set. The raffle tickets was our clever way of obtaining a reasonably accurate count of how many people donated and hopefully make at least one supporter happy.

The T.E.T. (Trevella Equestrian Team) riders and parents worked very hard all day and were acknowledged by Metro staff and customers commenting how helpful, happy and kind they all were. In total, T.E.T. received 667 donations, totaling $1,922.10 to help support them in their upcoming show season.

To Ken and his entire team at Metro, thank you for your hospitality and such a great fundraising opportunity.

To the Valley community, words simply cannot express just how grateful we are that so many of you are willing to support our little riding team. It shows that Valley people do love their horses!

So to the horse community and it's supporters I say, "Please recognize businesses like Metro that are willing to make exceptions and support equestrian sports and give them a chance at your business!"
